The artistic language of the Kholui miniature painting goes back to the Old Russian painting. The stages of creating include priming of the box, painting with tempera and covering with lacquer. The artwork is painted with the egg tempera, that brings the box bright and saturated colours. The smallest details are painted using one hair brush. As more details are shown on the box, as more valuable it is.
