«Suzdal» Boris Kiryanov, papier-mâché, tempera, Kholui

Boris Kiryanov is one of the brightest representatives of the Kholui miniature school. The artist developed his own style, remaining faithful to the unchanged traditions of the Kholui painting technique. His works were appreciated by many connoisseurs and are in private collections in Russia and abroad.

The artist often paints cityscapes, depicting the famous places of Ancient Russia. On one side of the papier-mâché box the artist depicted Suzdal, one of the oldest cities where you may see amazing architectural monuments and historical places. On the other side of the box, we see another historical place – Uglich, famous for its temple complexes. Kideksha is an amazing place with churches and monasteries. Ples, founded in 1410, is known for a place where famous Russian artist Isaac Levitan got his inspiration.  Also the artist depicted Kholui – center of lacquer miniature art.
