Old Ladoga. March, oil on hardboard, 19.5×34 cm, 2015

Staraya Ladoga is a small settlement in the Leningrad region; it is also called the first capital of Russia. The artist created a series of paintings from these picturesque places. They have the atmosphere of antiquity and historical times. The old temples and buildings form a whole complex of architectural monuments. The artist showed the beauty of these places combined with nature. He depicted this beautiful place during early spring, when there is still a lot of snow around, but nature is waking up from sleep.

Igor Chuhleb paints the work in oil using big brushstrokes in an impressionistic manner.
