Lacquer box “Falconer”, Boris Shavyrin, papier-mâché, oil, Fedoskino
Boris Shavyrin is one of the brightest representatives of the Fedoskino school. His art works are considered as sophisticated and exclusive among connoisseurs. It takes at least several months to create such a quality lacquered box. The process of making is a real art. Drawing is made with a one hair brush using magnifying glass. Some of the details are emphasized using golden leaf and mother of pearl.
The village of Fedoskino is the first place in Russia where lacquer miniatures started to be produced. Inspired by the easel painting, the artists of Fedoskino School created their own artistic language, very close to Realism. It is characterised by a very detailed work on volumes and silhouettes.
