Copy of the original Faberge egg, made in an unusual design. “Spring flowers” – Easter egg, made in 1899 in the workshop of Mikhail Perhin. They say, the egg was a present for Mariya Fedorovna from her close relatives.
It consists of a case made of white maple covered in leather with steel hinges and clasps containing a smaller egg decorated in red enamel and gold scroll work placed on a small stand of carved bowenite. Inside there is a bower of flowers made of garnets and white chalcedony in a basket of platinum.
It is currently owned by Viktor Vekselberg and is frequently on exhibition at The Faberge Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia,
The egg, presented in our gallery, was made in a bigger size from brass, cold enamel and crystals. The artists created a kind of a music box, playing Swan Lake by Tchaikovskiy.
